Taiwan Semiconductor has expanded its fast recovery epitaxial diodes line with the introduction of the PUUPxxH family. This family of diodes extends the benefits of FRED (Fast Recovery Epitaxial Diode) technology to applications that require up to 6 A of operating current.
The PUUPxxH family consists of high-reliability devices that are AEC-Q101 qualified, ensuring their suitability for automotive and other demanding applications. These diodes offer optimized switching speed in relation to reverse recovery time, resulting in efficient and low-noise switching operations. The soft reverse recovery characteristic of these diodes further contributes to reduced noise levels and increased overall efficiency.
The PUUPxxH diodes are available in various package options, including the TO-227 package with heat spreader contacts. This design allows for excellent heat transfer, ensuring the diodes can handle higher power dissipation while maintaining optimal performance.
The PUUP series within the PUUPxxH family includes 100 V and 200 V rated models with operating currents of 3 A, 4 A, and 6 A. Additionally, 3 A and 4 A versions are available in SOD-128 and DO-214 packages, providing flexibility for different application requirements.
In summary, Taiwan Semiconductor's PUUPxxH family expands their fast recovery epitaxial diodes line, bringing the benefits of FRED technology to applications that require up to 6 A of operating current. These diodes offer optimized switching speed, soft reverse recovery, and low noise switching, resulting in improved efficiency. With package options including the TO-227 with heat spreader contacts, these diodes provide excellent heat transfer capabilities. The PUUPxxH family offers a range of voltage and current options to accommodate different application needs.
Fast switching and reverse recovery times: Increases efficiency in a wide range of power electronics designs from medium voltage to high voltage applications, lowers EMI and RFI, and simplifies snubber and filtering design
Low reverse leakage: Industry-leading maximum IR (1 µA at TJ = 25°C) improves efficiency and offers a more controlled switching response between forward and reverse conduction modes
Low reverse recovery charge: Maximum Qrr (40 nC at IF = 0.5 A, IR = 1.0 A, IRR = 0.25 A) lowers parasitic ringing and EMC, reduces the need for snubbers, increases switching speed and lowers losses
AEC-Q automotive-qualified: 175°C TJ(max) compelling for automotive and industrial applications – Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation is available
Global materials compliance: RoHS compliant, halogen-free (per IEC-61249-2-21), WEEE, REACH, California Prop. 65, JESD-201 Class 2 Whisker Test, and others
Thermally advantageous TO-227 package: Ideal for automated placement; low-profile packaging with heat-spreader contacts provides excellent thermal management
